INVITING all TEACHERS (in History and Social Studies), HISTORIANS, RESEARCHERS and STUDENTS of History
The Department of History of the University of the Philippines Diliman, in cooperation with UP Baguio, the National Historical Commission (NHI)of the Philippines and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) will hold the 2012 Pambansang Kumperensiya sa Historiograpiyang Pilipino with the theme “ Paglawak ng mga Sanggunian sa Kasaysayang Pilipino”. The conference will be held at UP Baguio on April 26-28, 2012. Various panels will discuss sources, from written to non-written, that scholars and researchers may avail of in the writing of Philippine history, their conditions, location and limitations. This conference aims to gather historians, researchers and history teachers to discuss the conditions, problems and concepts of historical sources, as well as the resources and prospects in the writing of history on the national and local levels.
We are pleased to invite Teachers (History and Social Studies), Historians, Academic leaders, and students of History to attend the conference. This will be of particular interest to your school as the educational system is preparing to start the K+12 program next school year. The Grade 7 Araling Panlipunan to be implemented in June will introduce the young learners to primary sources in Philippine History. This conference will be a very opportune time for the teachers to stay on top of the learning endeavor by familiarizing them with the range of historical evidence and how these can be accessed, evaluated, and utilized.
The registration fee to this three-day conference is Php2,500 to cover lunch and snacks, conference kit, certificate of participation, and the interactive program/presentation on indigenous culture in the form of ritual, song, and dance that would enable the participants to appreciate the wealth of sources on Philippine history in our midst. We secured CHED and DepEd Support for this conference.
